At the Human Rights Council’s September briefing, the deputy UN human rights chief reported at least 1,120 civilian deaths from drone strikes during the first half of 2026. The figure covers one form of violence, rather than every death in Sudan’s war.

The 1,120 figure is a subset, not Sudan’s total. A nationwide injury total is unavailable; displacement and disease deaths are not added to direct fatalities. UNICEF reports 330 children killed OR injured in January–June, not 330 deaths; its separate North Kordofan May–June breakdown reports at least 18 killed and more than 17 injured.
